Monaghan Leahy, LLP, is a Maine based law firm located at 95 Exchange Street in Portland’s Old Port. The firm began as the partnership of Monaghan & Leahy in 1976. Thomas Monaghan and Thomas Leahy, the founding partners, originally specialized in general litigation, insurance defense, commercial real estate and banking. Kevin Libby joined the firm in 1979, and the litigation practice expanded to include civil rights, workers’ compensation and employer liability defense. Christopher Dinan has been with the firm since 1982, focusing on civil trial work as well as serving as a mediator and arbitrator. The firm’s partnership has grown to include John Wall, III and Kenneth Pierce, two of the firm’s successful trial attorneys, and most recently Cornelia Fuchs Fisher. Thomas Monaghan is now “of counsel” to the firm. Zachary I. Greenfield joined the firm as an associate in 2004. Erica M. Johanson joined the firm as an associate in the summer of 2006.
On May 6, 2008, the Law Court upheld the Superior Court’s September 13, 2007 decision in Bean v. State Farm.
ML attorney Ken Pierce obtained a defense verdict on December 13, 2007 in a suit arising out of a June, 2005 automobile accident in Waterboro, Maine.
